Who runs Unaminer

Unaminer is a free, private, non-commercial game run by one person in Estonia. That person decides what data the game keeps (the "controller" under the EU's GDPR). For anything about your data, write to contact@unaminer.com.

The short version

What we keep, and why

Guests. A guest gets a random name. Your guest progress is kept in the server's memory while you play and for 5 minutes after you close the tab, then it is gone. Your random guest name can appear on this world's boards, and if your dig reaches the core it stays in the world history. Why: to run the game you asked to play.

Accounts. For an account we keep: your username; a one-way salted hash of your password (never the password itself); a one-way salted hash of your recovery key if you make one (never the key itself); your game progress (energy, gems, looks, XP and levels, stats, guild and party, your place in the current world); and your login sessions (only a hash of each session's token, 30 days). Why: to give you the account you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

What other players see. Your username (or guest name), guild name, depths and other game results appear on boards, in guilds and parties, and in the world history. If your dig reaches a core, your name is kept in that world's history with the proof of the dig. Why: this is how the shared game works (Art. 6(1)(b)).

Feedback. If you send feedback in the game, we keep your message, the time, the world number and your username or guest name. Please do not put personal details in it. We delete a message 90 days after it was sent once it is marked as read; if there are ever 2000 messages, the oldest go first (read ones, then unread). Why: to read and fix what you report (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).

Days played. For each day (UTC) we note that an account or a guest played, by id number only, with no names. This gives you "days played" in your stats and gives us simple player counts. After 30 days, a guest's days become plain daily totals with no id at all; an account's days stay with the account. Why: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).

IP addresses. The game server uses your IP address only in memory, to limit abuse (too many connections or login attempts). It does not write IP addresses to its database or logs. Our network provider Cloudflare also sees your IP address when it passes your connection on. Why: security (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Admin log. When the person who runs Unaminer changes something about a player's account (for example a block), the action is logged with the username and the time. These lines are deleted after 12 months.

Server logs. Technical error messages, which can include an internal account number, are deleted after 14 days.

Backups. The database is copied every hour. The server keeps the newest 24 copies, plus a copy before each update (the newest 5). Encrypted copies are also stored with Cloudflare R2 in the EU. Copies are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Data you deleted can stay in a backup until that backup expires. To keep it from coming back, the server keeps a deletion list (the account number and the dates, no name); if we ever restore a backup, every account on that list is deleted again.

E-mail to us. If you write to contact@unaminer.com, we receive your e-mail address and message. Cloudflare forwards it to the private mailbox of the person who runs Unaminer. We use it only to answer you.

Services we use

How long we keep it (today)

Accounts: until you delete them. Sessions: 30 days. Guest progress: 5 minutes after you leave. World history: kept as the game's history, with your name replaced by "Deleted player" if you delete your account. Days played: an account's stay with the account; a guest's become daily totals after 30 days. Feedback: read messages 90 days after they were sent (at most 2000 messages are kept). Admin log: 12 months. Server logs: 14 days. Deletion list: kept, because it holds no name. Backups: up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see, copy, correct or delete your data, or restrict or object to its use. You can do the two most important things yourself, logged in, in Menu › Account: Download my data gives you a file with everything the game keeps about you (never your password or session hashes), and Delete account deletes your account at once and cannot be undone. To confirm, you type your username and your password or recovery key. Deleting removes your progress, looks, guild and party places, days played and the feedback you sent, and logs you out everywhere; your username becomes "Deleted player" on boards and in world history. For anything else, or if you cannot log in, write to contact@unaminer.com; we may ask for proof that the account is yours, and we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee) or the authority where you live.

Age

You must be 16 or older to create an account. Anyone can play as a guest, which stores no personal details. If you believe a younger child has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this notice changes, we update the date at the top; important changes also appear in the game's update notes.
